Mrs. Bontempo's 5th graders enjoyed participating in a "Word Market" last Thursday! This event was inspired by the newest class book, The Phantom Tollbooth, in which the main character encounters a word market himself. During this hands-on learning day, students created words from letter tiles, created sentences from word cards, looked up key vocabulary words found in the class book, scrambled the letters of the book title to create new words, and quizzed teammates over previously learned vocabulary words. What would a word market be without a few treats? 5th graders enjoyed some conversation hearts and alpha-cookies!
