Yesterday was the Wilbur D. Mills Educational Service Cooperative Chess Tournament for 4-12th graders. This Co-Op includes 17 districts from the surrounding area including Searcy, Cabot, and Jacksonville. There were 10 teams from our Co-op who participated. Our WCC kids showed up to win! Everyone played hard, had a great attitude, and represented our school well. Our kids competed for 15 trophies collectively across 4-12th grade and brought home 6!
•Lucas Morgan placed 1st for 4th Grade.
•Jesus Santos placed 2nd and Tanner McInturff placed 3rd for 6th grade.
•Hannah Davis placed 2nd and Jacob Watkins placed 3rd for Jr. High.
•Allie Jones placed 1st for Sr. High.
Aside from top 3 placement, the majority of our students placed in the top tier of competing students. We are incredibly proud of how well these students represented WCC today. If you see any of them, please be sure to congratulate their hard work!
A special thanks to our Chess Coaches: Tracy Donitzen, Shannon Jones, and Matt Jones. We appreciate your service to our kids!

Superintendent Dean Stanley has chosen WCC Nurses, Leighan Johnson and Lacey Brown, to be the next recipient of our High Five Award. Here is what Mr. Stanley says about our nurses...
"It is my distinct pleasure to present the High Five Award to be shared by our school nurses, Leighan Johnson and Lacey Brown. It has been a year since I was awarded this award just prior to the shut-down from the pandemic. It seems that since the mask mandate has been lifted that this would be the perfect time to begin the process again. Leighan and Lacey have been instrumental in working with many problems and situations during this very tough year on health area personnel. They have risen to the challenges that this pandemic has brought on the school system and have been true heroes in leading the charge to combat the virus. Thank you for the hard work that these ladies have done during this time."
Thank you Leighan and Lacey for your service to WCC!

This is just a reminder that there is no school tomorrow, Friday, April 2. School will resume on Monday, April 5.

Congratulations to WCC's first All Star Cheerleader Jadyan Watson.
All Star Cheerleaders get to cheer at the AAA All Star football and basketball games in the spring (Due to Covid, those won't happen again this year.)
This is a huge honor to be selected by the All Star coaches to represent the East. Jadyan was selected out of all the class divisions (1-6A).

Today, Governor Hutchinson lifted the mandatory statewide mask mandate. At our March school board meeting, the board voted to adopt the policy recommended by our Governor. Masks will be recommended but not required by students and staff beginning tomorrow, March 31st. We will continue to take temperatures daily as well as practicing social distancing to the best of our ability. If a person is not masked and is exposed to a positive case then the normal quarantining will be initiated. A plan will be on our website before April 15, 2021.
